Historical society to meet on Friday
VERNON — The Vernon Township Historical Society will have its first meeting of the year at 7 p.m. Jan. 17.
After taking off for the holiday months of November and December, the society will go back to its regular schedule of meetings on the third Friday of every month at the senior citizens' center at 21 Church Street at 7 p.m.
The group has new activities and fundraisers scheduled for 2014, including a new "All About Vernon" Photography show. There will be an adult and youth division in the show. Vernon High School Photography Department Supervisor Terry Sabia and her student photographers will partner with the society in developing this show.
The "Those Were the Days" series will begin in February. One presentation will be by Bob Fletcher, author of "High Breeze: An American Family Farm," which was just published. Fletcher is scheduled to speak on Saturday, Feb. 22 as he is not available on Sundays.
