John W. Hunt
John W. Hunt, age 88, passed away on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, New York. Born on Nov. 11, 1925, in Sussex, N.J., to the late Judge Marshal and Margaret (Rude) Hunt, he had enlisted in the Merchant Marines and then the United States Army in 1945, serving during World War II. Mr. Hunt had resided in Middletown, N.Y., and moved to Florida in 1987, prior to moving to Ellenville in 1999. He was a retired electrician with the IBEW Local 363 in New City, N.Y. Mr. Hunt was a member of the Circleville Fire Department and Fire Police, the Middletown Elks Lodge, and the V.F.W. in Ellenville. He was a free and accepted Mason and was a former member of the Buck and Doe Hunting Club.
He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Madeline M. (Roveda) Hunt on July 16, 2011, and a sister, Margaret Stevens. Mr. Hunt is survived by his three daughters, Marsha L. Myers and her husband, Sidney, of the town of Greenville, N.Y., Nancy J. McCarey and her husband, David, of Circleville, N.Y., and Cindy L. Craft and her husband, Charles, of Ellenville, New York; two brothers, Marshal Hunt and his wife Janet of York, PA and William Hunt and his wife, Suzanne, of Sussex, N.J.; his six grandchildren, Kristopher L. Myers, Kendall M. McCarey, David J. McCarey, Kimberly J. Craft, Sarah N. Craft, and JoAnna R. Craft; and several nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex, NJ.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
