Local free roof giveaway program

NEWTON — The national No Roof Left Behind initiative has found a sponsorship in Sussex County and the surrounding area. Local company Up and Above Contractors, LLC, is now accepting nominations for the free roof on their web site, www.upandabovecontractors.com.

There are a few conditions for the program. Nominees must own the home they are living in and be a resident of Sussex, Warren, Hunterdon or Pike counties. Also, the free roof recipient must be current on his/her mortgage payments. Nominees will be accepted until April 19, 2014. A team of local volunteers will review all the nominees and four will be selected as finalists.

The four finalists’ stories and photos will be displayed on Up and Above Contractor’s No Roof Left Behind homepage. From May 10 to May 31, 2014 the public will be able to vote on the finalist they feel is most deserving. The roof winner will be revealed online on June 7, 2014 and the installation celebration will be held shortly thereafter.

Gary and Jackie Powers, owners of Up and Above Contractors, LLC are celebrating 20 years in the roofing industry, serving both homeowners and commercial businesses. Jackie heard about the No Roof Left Behind program on Facebook. A contractor from Florida posted the information about his winner and she thought this was a great way to give back.

“We joined the program because we appreciate the community’s support over the past 20 years, and we felt this was a good way to show it,” Jackie Powers said. “Giving away a free roof to a family that really needs one is a great way to help someone in the community.”

There are many ways for local businesses to support the effort and receive recognition.

“It’s a great way to rally the community together,” said Jackie Powers. “There are plenty of people in need and many ways to help.”
