Marks appointed interim county administrator
Newton. Christina Marks, longtime Sussex County official and clerk of the Board of County Commissioners, has been appointed interim county administrator following Ron Tappan’s recent resignation.
Clerk of the Sussex County Board of County Commissioners Christina Marks has been appointed interim county administrator in the wake of Ron Tappan’s resignation from the post late last month.
Marks said her new role, effective Oct. 23, will continue until a permanent successor is found. She said there has been no discussion about any salary increase.
Marks has been with Sussex County for 18 years, most recently as clerk and chief of staff of the Board of Commissioners. Prior to that, she was senior program development specialist for the Division of Senior Services. She is also a past union president.
Tappan was appointed to a three-year term as county administrator in September of 2022 at a salary of $175,000. The reason for his resignation was unclear as of deadline.
Attempts to reach County Board of Commissioners Director Chris Carney and Deputy Director Jill Space were unsuccessful.
