Newton. Ten-year-old Nathan Itnyre, a student at Fredon Township Elementary School, entered the Patriotic Coloring Contest and won first place among those who entered through American Legion Post 86 of Newton and second place in Sussex County. Nathan plans to donate some of his winnings to a local animal shelter. The American Legion Department of New Jersey sponsors the annual contest. This year’s theme was “Space Age” and was open to fourth and fifth graders throughout the state. The winners were chosen for their accuracy and neatness.
