Recently elected new Sussex Borough Councilwoman, Georgeanna Stoll, sat as part of the public audience during the Borough meeting. Stoll was elected to take the place of Councilman Ed Meyer, beginning January 2014.

She has worked with Sussex Borough for 13 years. For three years, she worked with the Recreation Committee as a volunteer. Then she became a member of the Planning Board and was on the Sussex Borough Recreation Committee for at least seven years. She also was involved for five years in organizing the “Miss Sussex” contest.

This is the second time she ran for councilwoman. The first time she lost by seven votes.

The new councilwoman said she hopes to help lower water rates. When she first moved to the borough16 years ago, her personal water rate was $175 per quarter. Now it is $420. These high rates “hurt a lot of people.”

“More people should come out and be involved with the borough," she said. "Everyone on the council only has the best interests for Sussex - even if we don’t agree.”
