Joe Hession, chief executive officer of SNOW Operating, recently presented a check for $50,000 to Lisa DeRitter, Vernon Coalition coordinator for the Center for Prevention & Counseling, and Becky Carlson, executive director of the Center for Prevention & Counseling.

The Joseph P. Hession Foundation is the charitable arm of SNOW Operating and named for founder Joe Hession’s father, a recovering alcoholic who has been sober for the last 45 years. Joseph P. Hession also spent his career as a drug and alcohol counselor, and was named New York State Counselor of the Year in 2000.

Snow Operating is the resort operator for Mountain Creek Resort, which has maintained a strong relationship with the Vernon Coalition over the years, partnering in programs to combat substance abuse and the opioid epidemic in Vernon.

As the organization nears the end of its Drug-Free Communities Support Grant, Mountain Creek Resort and the Joseph P. Hession Foundation teamed up to provide funds to a cause close to Joe’s heart and in support of his hometown. This donation will help support the Center for Prevention & Counseling and its mission to help reduce youth alcohol and drug abuse in Vernon, while promoting healthy lifestyle choices.
