Sussex Borough changes rates for funeral homes

SUSSEX BOROUGH — The Sussex Borough Council approved a change to water/sewer rates of funeral parlors and they will be billed as one Equivalent Dwelling Unit per business instead of being charged based on square footage.

The council voted 3-0 to approve the change. Council President Marina Krynicky, Councilman Salvatore Lagattuta and Councilwoman Annette Stendor were absent. Officials said the change was made because funeral parlors are an "intermittent business." Any attached residences will see no change in their billing.

The change went into effect during the first quarter of this year and will appear on the April 15 invoices.
