Sussex County libraries to celebrate Lincoln
NEWTON — The Sussex County Library system will feature two books about Abraham Lincoln during February as part of the local One Book One Community Committee.
One Book/One Community of Branchville, Frankford, Lafayette, Sussex and Wantage annually engages “as many community members as possible to read a selected book with the purpose of building a school-community partnership.”
The books chosen are "Our Abe Lincoln" by Jim Aylesworth for grades K-4, and "Chasing Lincoln’s Killer" by James L. Swanson for grades 5 through adult.
The SCLS will support the One Book program with displays, programs and bibliographies on the theme. There will be several programs at each of the six SCLS branches appropriate for every age.
For the youngest readers and their families the Main Library will show an animated biography of Lincoln at 10 a.m. a.m. on February 8. All the branches will host Lincoln-inspired drop-in crafts and feature Our Abe Lincoln at every PJ Story Time.
For older children, there will be Lincoln-themed crafts, LEGO sessions and Pinterest Penny Projects that combine creativity, science and fun. Teens can participate through a carry-out craft, and complete a mug-shot match up to earn a candy bar. Teens and adults are invited to Main Library on Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. to watch a critically acclaimed docudrama based on Bill O’Reilly’s book Killing Lincoln.
Some events require advance registration. For more information, dates and times visit or call any branch or go to the Library Programs Calendar at www.sussexcountylibrary.org.
