Sussex Tech holds veterans seminar
SPARTA — Veterans John Harrigan, Matt Fredericks, Walt Hazelman, John Brady, Rich Predmore, Bob Gilbert, Joe Siems and Owen Martin spent the morning at the school speaking to Juniors and Seniors currently enrolled in US History Two.
Stations were set up with topics such as Agent Orange, Vietnamese War Tactics, War Protests, Memorials, POWs and Personal Stories. Students spent 20 minutes at each station and had the opportunity to listen to the Veterans give firsthand accounts of life In-Country while fighting the Vietnam War. The program was sponsored and created by the Sussex Tech Social Studies Department including Erin Ashton. Erin Shawiak, Vic Myers and Christine Buccieri. Several members of the Sussex Tech faculty and staff also pitched in in various ways to ensure the smooth operation of the event.
On Thursday May 26, Sussex Tech High School will further its support of the cause by hosting the 3rd Annual Veteran's Tribute and Fashion Show.
Proceeds of the event went to further construction of the Northern New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery located on Rt. 94 next to the High School.
