By early afternoon the McAfee Fire Department had raised over $5,000 to go to the St. Baldrick's Foundation.

The foundation is a research group for childhood cancers. The amount, according to the foundation's website, includes both online donations as well as the money that was raised during the hair raising, hair cutting event.

For more information about the St. Baldrick's Foundation can be found at www.stbaldricks.org and donations to benefit the McAfee effort are still being accepted through the website. Go to: http://www.stbaldricks.org/events/mypage/9863/2014.
