VERNON — The Vernon Township School District will offer kindergarten and preschol education at the Walnut Ridge Primary School at the end of March.

The district provides a preschool program using Tools of the Mind, a N.J. Department of Education-approved developmentally appropriate curriculum for children with and without disabilities. This curriculum infuses theme-based teaching that is aligned with Common Core State Standards.

Preschool is offered five days a week during a morning or afternoon session. Vernon residents may enroll children who will turn 3 on or before Oct. 1, 2014. Children must be fully toilet trained to start in the program.

Children who will be 5 years old on or before Oct. 1, 2014, are eligible to register for kindergarten for the 2014-15 school year. The district is encouraging all parents to enroll their child online as early as possible for staffing and planning purposes.
