For the first time in recent history, two graduates of the Vernon Township School District are now running the Board of Education.

David Zwier, VTHS class of 1996, was elected president of the Board of Education at last Thursday's work session, while Cynthia Auberger, class of 1976, was elected vice president.

Zweier ran against former President Robert Hughes, while Auberger ran unopposed.

At the same meeting, Zweier, John McGowan and Lori LaPera were sworn in for three year terms to the board. McGowan started his 11th, and last term, saying he would not seek election after this term ends.

This is Zweier's third term and LaPera's first.
