Longtime Vernon couple favors Rinker

Although we are now retired — Fran was a Vernon teacher for many years while Dan ran his textile sales company — during our 30-plus years in Vernon, we have watched our town struggle through many difficult times, not many worse than what we are facing today. Whether the “Town Center” mismanagement, the Ameripay tax payment laxity, the Herald Square over-purchasing or the recent forensic accounting investigation, which addresses these and other problems, there are so many negative factors affecting the town’s budget, which also impacts our soaring property taxes. Many of our Council members have good intentions...but that is not enough. It also takes foresight, critical thinking and integrity to question the constant flow of business that comes before the Council. The Council is also responsible for monitoring the relationships between the Town Manager, the town and itself, the Council. The Town Managers have been the source of many problems both now and in the past. We strongly feel that Sally Rinker has the experience, the character and the fearlessness to be a critical part of the council mix. As an Independent, she is not beholden to any person, party or power. Although we belong to a different party than Sally, we feel strongly that she rises above petty party politics. Don’t forget, in the upcoming election, any person can vote for any ticket. As a successful business person who builds family homes, Sally Rinker has the credentials to understand the town’s business. But just as importantly, she has the tenacity and independent spirit to impact our town in a positive way. Please vote for Sally Rinker for Vernon Town Council on Nov. 3. The fiscal health of our town is at stake. Dan and Fran Boltz Vernon
