McAfee firehouse to host 11th annual free Christmas Day meal

    VERNON-The Eleventh Annual Free Holiday Dinner will be held at the McAfee Fire-house from 1-3 p.m. on Christmas Day. Everyone is invited and reservations are appre¬ciated. Volunteers and donations are needed. There will be a turkey and ham dinner served at the firehouse with all the traditional fixings. Gifts are given to all children and adults. Every family or individual is also given a gift basket of food items to be taken home. Dinners and gifts will also be delivered to the homes of those who are shut-ins or cannot other¬wise attend. Transportation is provided for anyone who wants to attend and does not have a ride. Volunteer opportunities include cooking, serv¬ing, wrapping gifts, hall set-up, delivery of meals, pick-up and return of guests, assembly of food bas¬kets, clean-up and more. Anyone who wishes to volunteer can donate any part of or all of their day. The earliest volun¬teers start at approximately 8 a.m. Everyone should be done by 4-4:30 pm. Donations are needed of new, unwrapped gifts for guests of all ages, (especially teenagers), non-perishable foods for baskets, desserts for the din¬ner, table centerpieces, gift wrapping paper, scotch tape, bows, name tags, medium and big baskets, disposable dinner and dessert plates, plastic eat¬ing utensils, paper dinner and dessert napkins, and more.
