McDougal awarded eagle scout ranking

Daniel McDougal of Lafayette, a member of Troop 850, was recently awarded the rank of Eagle Scout. The award is the highest honor given to a Boy Scout, requiring earning a minimum of 21 merit badges, showing leadership within the troop, as well as completing a service project. For his project, Daniel led the construction of an outdoor bulletin board and retaining wall at Lafayette Township Elementary School. He is a 2009 graduate of High Point Regional High School and is currently a freshman at Gettysburg (Pa.) College. He will continue in Scouting as an assistant scoutmaster. He was honored with a presentation by Sen. Steven Oroho, and received numerous letters of commendation from public officials and organizations.
