NEWTON — Newton Memorial Hospital offers the following classes and workshops at the hospital and at the Sparta Health and Wellness Center in October. CPR Healthcare Provider CPR Renewal will be held from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at Newton Memorial Hospital and from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at Sparta Health & Wellness Center. The cost is $50. Family and Friends Adult & Pediatric CPR, a one-day course that teaches CPR and how to help choking adults, children or infants, will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23 at Newton Memorial Hospital. The cost is $20. Heartsaver Adult and Pediatric CPR will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9 at Sparta Health & Wellness Center. The cost is $35. Healthcare Provider CPR for New Providers will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays, Oct. 7 and Oct. 14 at Newton Memorial Hospital. The cost is $60. Heartsaver Adult First Aid with Adult, Child, Infant CPR will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Thursdays, Oct. 2 and Oct. 9 at Newton Memorial Hospital. The cost is $60. Heartsaver Adult & Child AED CPR will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 at Newton Memorial Hospital. The cost is $40. The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in CPR and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association and any fees charged for such a course do not represent income to the association. Support Groups The Daytime Diabetes Support Group meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at Newton Memorial Hospital. The topic is “Healthy Habits: When You Know Your Numbers, You Are In Control.” Newton Memorial Hospital and Morristown Memorial Hospital are hosting a Bariatric Surgery Support Group meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7 at the Sparta Health & Wellness Center. Newton Memorial Hospital and the American Cancer Society will hold a Breast Cancer Support Group meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at the Sparta Health and Wellness Center. The Man-to-Man Prostate Cancer Support Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at the Sparta Health & Wellness Center. The group is co-sponsored by Newton Memorial Hospital and the American Cancer Society. Newton Memorial Hospital is offering a Stroke Support Group to provide information and encouragement during this time of healing at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28 at Newton Memorial Hospital. Weight Loss Newton Memorial Hospital will hold a weight loss program, “Lose Weight with Hypnosis - Without Dieting or Feeling Deprived,” at the Sparta Health & Wellness Center, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23. The course costs $70 or $65 with a written physician’s note. Pre-registration required.
