Off to a promising start
I am very proud to be a member of this council as we have come together in complete unity. We have already been hard at work beginning the tasks we all came here to do. There are many issues which need addressing and this council has begun to map out the goals and strategies. We are all very mindful of the necessity to get our financial house in order. The 2010 budget, an effort to stabilize our taxes and all the other financial challenges will be well addressed by this committed council and the expert advise of our financial advisory committee. We will foster inclusion and improved communication with our municipal departments. We will initiate renewed relationships with our board of education, our emergency services, the county and the state to facilitate better and more cost effective plans. And for our residents, we will have the open forums we have talked about for so long. An important part of Vernon’s success story will be the continuation and completion of the sewer project and the successful accommodation of businesses in the designated areas. As the economy improves and developers come forward, we will implement good judgment for the best choices for Vernon’s future. This council brings a diverse set of skills with common goals. We will work for Vernon as promised and there will be positive results for it. And so we begin this new year with all the hope and promise our town deserves.
