ReMax agent teams up with ‘Bachelor'

Sparta — Though it’s the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths, pancreatic cancer research makes up less than two percent of the National Cancer Institute’s federal research funding. There are organizations and people who want to change that. Sparta resident and ReMax agent Kathleen Gagg has teamed up with Dr. Andy Baldwin, who starred in ABC-TV’s “The Bachelor: Officer And A Gentleman,” to raise money and educate people about the fight against pancreatic cancer. Baldwin is leading a team of runners representing The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in the Jan. 25 ING Miami Marathon and Half Marathon. His goal is to bring 50 team members from all across America to Miami to raise money for the network. Baldwin is also speaking out about the need for more funds, research and education about pancreatic cancer. Gagg is no stranger to bringing attention to a cause and educating the public. She was a driving force behind The Robie Foundation which is an Sussex County based organization which worked to raise awareness about juvenile heart defects. Gagg said, “When I heard about what Andy was doing and learned about how much money is needed for pancreatic cancer research, I knew immediately that if people were told the facts and the important needs they would step up and help. It’s a disease that took my aunt from my family after only three months. She was diagnosed on an Ash Wednesday and passed away on Valentine’s Day.” As part of his fund raising commitment to the network, Baldwin has to raise $2,900.
