The Rotary Club of Branchville is proud to announce that it has awarded ten Student of the Month awards during the 2008-2009 school year. Once a month, we invite the guidance counselors and teachers at each of Sandyston-Walpack School, Frankford Township School and High Point Regional High School to nominate a worthy student who exhibits the quality of Service above Self — Rotary’s guiding tenet. Each student attends our club meeting with a proud parent and guidance counselor in tow to receive the congratulations of our club members. Each student receives an engraved plaque, donated by Crystal Graphics Achievement Awards and a $25 dinner certificate donated by The Chatterbox Restaurant. The winning student has the opportunity to tell the club about themselves and has their photo taken and published in our club’s weekly bulletin. The monthly winners from Sandyston-Walpack School (all sixth graders) are: Aliena Hull and Scott Graham. Frankford Township School winners (all eighth graders) are: Maureen Gill, Moira Hubbell and Ryan O’Connell. High Point Regional High School winners are: Munroe Graham; Billy Suchoski; Laura Fontana; Daniel McDougal and Sean Post. Although all of these wonderful students have already been recognized at the Rotary Club of Branchville and in their schools, we believe that the community at large should know of this program and the students we have honored this year. Rotary International is an international service organization with more that 1.2 million members worldwide, consisting of more that 33,000 individual clubs like the Rotary Club of Branchville. The organization has numerous scholarship opportunities available at all age levels. In fact, Rotary International is the largest grantor of scholarships in the world. In addition, Rotary International has been instrumental in the near eradication of polio throughout the world. In conjunction with a challenge grant from the Gates Foundation, Rotary International and its local clubs are working diligently to complete the eradication from the world of this disease. Come to a club meeting any Friday at 12:15 at the Third Base Pub in Branchville to learn more about the work of Rotary International and the local Rotary Clubs.
