SCCC professor receives grant

    Newton —Local artist Kulvinder Kaur Dhew, has recently been awarded an Artist’s Fellowship Grant and Residency at the Vermont Studio Center. The Center - located in Johnson, Vermont - was established to provide emerging and established artists from around the world opportunities to conduct studio-based research. Kaur Dhew, who in September had a one-person show at the Cotuit Center for the Arts in Mass., is currently exhibiting at the Pike Modern gallery in Milford, Pa. Having received her MFA in Painting from the Royal College of Art in London, Kaur Dhew was Head of Painting at The School of Art in Dunedin, New Zealand, and a Lecturer at the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, on the Island of Borneo, before moving to Sussex County in 1999. Currently an Adjunct Lecturer in Fine Arts at Sussex County Community College, Kulvinder maintains a studio at Peters Valley Craft Center in Layton.
