Shaw Orchestra on stage

Hackettetown — The 16-piece Artie Shaw Orchestra will perform at Hackettstown High School on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 7:15 p.m. The orchestra is under the direction of Rich Chiaraluce and will play many of the original arrangements that made this orchestra so popular in the 40s and 50s. The band’s rendition of “Begin the Beguine” was a million seller and the band was one of the top four swing bands, which were Glen Miller, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw and Tommy Dorsey at the time. All proceeds benefit the Hackettstown High School music program and the Centenary Stage Company performing arts season.
