SUSSEX — Special-edition Cheerios boxes were recently unveiled at the ShopRite stores in Newton, Franklin and Byram as a crowd of supporters representing many of the local community food banks joined the celebration. The Sussex stores, along with selected “hunger-fighting heroes” were honored for their efforts to fight hunger in their communities. The program, part of the “Partners in Caring” initiative by Wakefern Food Corp. and supported by General Mills, “raises awareness of what hunger looks like in the local community and works tirelessly to raise money to keep the food pantries full for the residents they serve,” officials said.
