12U Vernon Cyclones win USABL World Series qualifier

Vernon. The 12U Vernon Cyclones capped of an incredible come from behind victory, defeating the Monroe Crusaders to advance to the USABL World Series. Trailing 4-2 in the top of the sixth, the Cyclones placed runners at second and third when Tyler Dobrzynski hammered a pitch to the left center field gap, tying the game at 4. Later in the inning, Joey D’Aprile secured the game with a bases loaded double to the center field wall, scoring the final three runs. The win capped off an outstanding weekend of baseball that saw the Cyclones post a 4-1 record, including a 6-5 win over last year’s Cal Ripken New Jersey State Champion, the Hillsborough Raiders. With the win, it will mark the third time in as many years that the Cyclones qualified for the USABL World Series, which will take place July 28 and 29 in Toms River, N.J.
