The GlenRivet Hickory and Scotch Tournament is one of the most popular tournaments hosted by Crystal Springs during the golf season.

The attraction to golfers is the opportunity to compete on New Jersey’s top ranked golf course, Ballyowen, and to experience the challenge of playing a hole using vintage 1929 era “hickory stick” golf clubs, tasting fine GlenLivet Scotch during the event and enjoying dinner at Owen’s Pub following golf.

The format of play was a four golfer Team “Scramble” in which each golfer tees off. The team then selects the best of the four tee shots and everyone plays from that spot and continuing that process until the ball is holed out.

The team score for the hole is then recorded on scorecard. The team with the lowest team score at the end of play is declared the winner. At the end of play the team with the lowest score included David Goddard, Woody Osterhoudt, Gerry Hughes and Patrick Matthews who carded a 15 Under par 57 to be declared the event winners.

The winners of the longest drive and closest to the pin skill events were Alan Kurtin who hit the longest drive on hole #5 and Gavin Whitton whose tee shot landed 9’ 3” from the cup on hole #11 to win the closet to the pin honors.
