Two local dancers won top awards recently at an area competition. Jessica Snider, 10, from Frankford Township, and Katie Hoffmann, 13, of Sparta, are members of the BDC Dance Company located in Olde Lafayette Village.
They were the recipients of the top Jr. and Teen Soloist Award at DanceXplosions National Talent Tour dance competition that was held in June. Jessica won for her lyrical routine entitled "Angels Among Us," which also received a special judges award.
Katie won for her ballet routine entitled "Menuetto." Both girls received jackets, trophies and a cash award.
The duo of Jessica Scherr, 16, of Sparta and Katie Hoffmann also received top honors as the overall teen duo for their jazz routine entitled "Fever."
The dance company of Branchville Dance Centre walked away with numerous double platinum and platinum awards, as well as judges awards and overall titles for the 46 routines that were entered into this competition. The routines consisted of solos, duos, trios and both small group and large group routines.
