Dance Expression earns high scores at Legacy competition

SPARTA — The Dance Expression Dance Company received high honors at the Legacy Dance and Talent competition on Feb. 22-23.

Platinum Awards were awarded to the following performances: "Grease," (Musical Theatre Jazz Production Number); "Outside the Box," (Senior Large Group Contemporary); "Prelude" (Senior Large Group Contemporary), "All the Trees in the Fields" (Senior Small Group Modern), "Listen" (Teen Small Group Contemporary), "Blessings" (Teen Large Group Modern), "Party People" (Teen large Group Jazz), "Black & Red" (Novice Petite Small Group Jazz), "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead" (Novice Petite Small Group), "Nicer in Nice" (Novice Petite Large Group Jazz), "Lament" (Renea Rossi of Vernon, Senior Advanced Modern Solo), "Look" (Taylor Wade of Wantage, Senior Advanced Contemporary Solo), "Workin' Day and Night" (Kristen Winkler of Hamburg, teen advanced Jazz Solo), "A Little More of You" (Renea Rossi and Dylan VonderLinden of Vernon, Senior Modern Solo), "Prophecy" (Jillian Henderson of Sparta, Taylor Wade and Kristina Henderson of Wantage, Advanced Teen Contemporary Trio), "Je Suis Malade" (Dylan VonderLinden of Vernon, Intermediate Senior Modern Solo), "Little Bird" (Lauren Morris of Sparta, Teen Intermediate Open Solo), "Flying Scarlet" (Danielle Gutt of Hardyston, Teen Intermediate Open Solo, "Blue" (Katelyn LaRue of Vernon, Petite Novice Modern Opoen Solo), "The Hunt" (Julia Young of Sparta, Intermediate Junior Open Solo).

Overall high score awards were awarded to "Grease" (Teen Large Group/Production — High Score Advance Production and Ellen McGovern won an award for Choreography), "Prelude" ( Senior Advanced Modern — High Score Senior Large Group), "Midsummer Nights Dream" (Teen Advanced Small Group Ballet — High Score senior Intermediate Large Group), "Don't Stop Believing" (Senior Intermediate Large Group Tap, High Score Senior Intermediate Large Group), "Believe" (Teen Intermediate Large Group Hip Hop, High Score International Large Group); "Party People" (Teen Large Group Jazz, High Score Intermediate Large Group), "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead" (Petite Tap Small Group, High Score Novice Small Group), "Nice in Nice" (Petite Jazz Large Group, High Score Novice Large Group), "A Little More of You" (Renae Rossi and Dylan VonderLinden, High Score Intermediate), "Je Suis Malade" (Dylan VonderLinden of Vernon, High Score Intermediate, Senior Solo), "Murder" (Lauren Morris of Sparta and Elijah Velez of Wantage, High Scorfe Intermediate Senior Duet), "Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend," Danielle Gutt of Hardyston and Ashley Benecki of Franklin, high score for International Teen Duet), "Flying Scarlet (Danielle Gutt of Hardyston, High Score Intermediate Teen Solo), "The Hunt" (Julia Young of Sparta, High Score Intermediate Junior Solo) and "Blue" (Katelyn LaRue of Vernon (High Score Petite Novice Solo).

Special awards were given to: "Nice in Nice" (Future Potential Award), "Prophecy" (Focus Award), "Pattern" (Committed Award), "Look" (First Runner Up Miss Legacy), "The Hunt" (Cool, Calm, Collected Award); "Blue" (Strong Back Award), "Stuff Like That Theere (Rockette Award) and Grease (Choreography Award for 12 and older.
