Gators thrive in Lancaster

There were no miracles needed for the Garden Gators this past weekend.

Giant Gymnastics’ competitive USA Gymnastics Xcel team came home with medals and trophies from Lancaster, Pennsylvania’s “Miracle on the Square” gymnastics invitational.

This was the first official meet of the 2015-16 season for the Gators, and their hours of training paid off yet again.

Last season, the Garden Gators took home at least two team awards in the top 3 places at every meet. They are continuing that success this year with a first-place Silver team win and a second-place Gold team win at Lancaster.

"I am so pleased to see that we have continued where we left off last season," said coach and co-owner Jennifer Skorski. "This is a very talented, hard-working group of girls and I have no doubt that this season will bring them much success, as did last. It is so exciting to watch the girls start off on such a great note."

To add to their success as a team, every gymnast competing had personal success as well, bringing home at least one medal placing fifth or better. Diamond gymnast Kelly Hurley of Sparta took home a coveted first-place All-Around medal.

The Gators' next meet, in January, will be the debut of this season’s Bronze level Xcel team.
