Learn to ski or snowboard at Mountain Creek
VERNON — Unlike the local black bears, humans were not meant to hibernate. To get you out of the house and onto the slopes this winter, Mountain Creek is celebrating National Learn to Ski or Snowboard Month by offering "Buy One, Get One Free" on all midweek Learn-to Ski or Snowboard packages in January.
Mountain Creek’s Learn-to packages come with everything you need to get started, including a limited terrain lift ticket, rental equipment, helmet and a 1 1/2 hour Group Lesson all for $99.99 – for you and a friend. Having taught over 1 million guests to ski and snowboard since 1965, Mountain Creek is the leader in providing best-in-class first time lesson experiences.
Gone are the days of the traditional “bunny slope” where you stand at the top filled with fear and anxiety thinking “how am I ever going to stop?” Instead Mountain Creek has replaced that fear with a focus on fun and a revolutionary new way to teach beginners to ski and snowboard.
Mountain Creek, along with Burton and Snow Park Technologies, have partnered to pioneer Terrain Based Learning. The terrain in the beginner areas is specifically groomed to assist first-timers in understanding the basic body movements and positioning required to learn to ski or snowboard. In these learning areas, the snow is specifically shaped to assist teaching. Guests will experience terrain shaped like a mini half-pipe, rollers, and banked turns designed to control their speeds naturally. Mountain Creek’s Terrain Based Learning program takes the anxiety away from learning to focus more on the fun!
“With January being Learn to Ski and Snowboard month, this is a perfect time to come out and try one of these great sports and there is no better place to learn than Mountain Creek. With the help of our Terrain Based Learning, our friendly instructors will have you up and skiing or riding and having fun from your very first lesson,” said Ski and Snowboard School Manager Tim Stone.
Mountain Creek was recognized by the National Ski Area Association in 2013, winning the Conversion Cup Challenge for excellence in their beginner programs.
For those not interested in skiing or snowboarding, there is still plenty to experience at Mountain Creek. Mountain Creek features the DropZone Tubing Park, New Jersey’s only Alpine Mountain Coaster, and year-round ziplining, along with lodging, dining and two top-rated day spas.
Learn to Ski or Snowboard lessons are available daily from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. A 24-hour advance reservation is recommended. Call 973-827-2000 for more information and reservations.
