Miners plan annual Heroes Night

| 16 Jun 2016 | 02:42

On Sunday, June 26, the Miners will honor local fire, police and rescue teams in the greater Sussex County area with their annual Hometown Heroes night. Meet New Jersey’s bravest and finest, as they watch the Miners battle the Quebec Capitales. Before the game, get an up-close look at local Sussex County rescue vehicles, as they parade around the field at Skylands Stadium.
On Tuesday, June 28, the most anticipated night of the summer is finally here. Metal will clash and fans will cheer as the knights of Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament return to Sussex County for the second annual A Knight to Remember at Skylands Stadium. The King and Queen will watch with fans in amazement as the Miners face the Rockland Boulders and the knights battle for glory with epic sword fights between innings. Kids can also meet the knights and the royal family and pose for an unforgettable photo opportunity on the concourse throughout the night.
Last year, at A Knight to Remember, Miners beloved mascot Herbie the Miner was knighted “Sir Herbert.” This year, Herbie gets a day all his own. On Wednesday, June 29, the Miners will celebrate Herbie’s birthday and toast the big-bearded giant with a heart of gold. All of Herbie’s friends will be in attendance, as mascots from other local teams will come together at Skylands Stadium to wish Herbie a happy birthday. Miners fans can even mimic their favorite mascot, as the first 500 fans in attendance will receive a Herbie Beard.
Ladies, has a baseball team ever held a day just for you? We didn’t think so. That’s why Thursday, June 30, is your day at Skylands Stadium, as the Miners will hold their first annual Ladies Night Out. Do some pregame shopping at the ballpark, and make sure you are one of the first 200 ladies in attendance to receive a complimentary gift bag. Finally, make sure you visit the Miners Facebook page and sign up for the Miners’ Makeover Contest. Two lucky fans will win a free makeover, courtesy of Village Mane of Lafayette. The Miners can be found on Facebook at Facebook.com/SussexCountyMiners.
The Miners are also excited to announce their first ever Faith & Family Night, as well as the return of the Girl Scouts Sleepover and the Boy Scouts Sleepover. On Sunday, June 12, local houses of worship are invited to enjoy a special day at the ballpark for Faith & Family Night. Local Girl Scout Troops will have their sleepover and movie night on Friday, June 24 when the Miners face the Quebec Capitales.
Another exciting event at the stadium this month – to be held while the Miners are away – is the All-American Thrill Show from June 17-19. Children and adults will be dazzled by the country’s most adept daredevils, as they walk the high wire, swing on the flying trapeze and dangle skillfully from a 90-foot swaypole, high above the stands. Come early to enjoy rides, food, games, and a free petting zoo! The show will be held on Friday, June 17, at 7:05 p.m.; Saturday, June 18, at 2:05 p.m. and 7:05 p.m; and Sunday, June 19, at 2:05 p.m. and 6:05 p.m.
