Vernon Cyclones win on Mother's Day

    The Vernon Cyclones 14-and-younger travel baseball team traveled to West Milford on Mother's Day and came up with a big win for mom

    George Gutierrez threw the first 3 innings for the Cyclones, followed by Andrew Tomasula in the fourth, Jadon Mutz in the fifth, and D.J. Springstead to mercy them in the sixth. T

    he Cyclones' bats were no match for West Milford. Springstead went 4-for-4 with a walk, Ryan Bell and Adam Driscoll, both went 4-for-5 with a walk and a pair of doubles. Max Rodriguez, Gutierrez, Jadon Mutz and Ben DiCarlo also doubled. Noah Franetovich and Joey Swartz both had a pair of hits to give the Cyclones a total of 28 hits and four strikeouts and a 23-6 win over West Milford.

    The Cyclones are now 7-0. After the game, the Cyclones players all presented there moms with a rose to show their appreciation for all they do for them. Next week, the Cyclones travel to Sparta for a doubleheader.
