Vikings' rally falls short against Morris Hills

The Vernon Township High School football team rallied but fell short last Friday night and suffered a 28-27 loss to Morris Hills.

The Vikings fell behind, 14-0, at the start of the second quarter. Vernon running back Ken Artsma (46) scored the Vikings first touchdown in the second quarter. The extra-point tightened the game to 14-7.

The Morris Hills Scarlet Knights opened a 28-14 lead by halftime, but the Vikings scored two touchdowns behind two touchdown passes from Tyler Soltes. However, they blocked the kick to keep the Vikings (0-7) from tying the game.

Morris Hills tight end Joseph Bencel found the end zone twice while running back Mike Dietrich scored on a 1-yard run. Quarterback Daymon Fleming completed a 50-yard touchdown pass to running back Jose Delgado.

The Morris Hills Scarlet Knights improved to 3-4.
