Two students from High Point Regional High School have committed to supporting the “Heroes for the American Red Cross” fundraising campaign by asking customers of Wal-Mart to donate their change. Jeremy Zabriskie and Robert Babcock have raised $150 so far and have pledged several more hours of volunteer service to help support the Sussex County Chapter of the American Red Cross. Students at High Point High School are required to perform 20 hours of community service as a graduation requirement. Another High Point Student, Marissa Mayers, has also signed on to the program, agreeing to raise $1,000 for the Sussex County chapter. Her online donation page is american.redcross.org/goto/MarissaMayers. What does Red Cross do? The American Red Cross is a non-profit organization that shelters, feeds and counsels victims of disasters; provides nearly half of the nation’s blood supply; teaches lifesaving skills and supports military members and their families.
