April 28, 2008 Edward Ogar, age 52 of Swartswood, New Jersey, was sentenced to probation for 18 months. As a condition of Ogar’s probation he is to serve 30 days in the Sussex County Sheriff’s Labor Assistance Program and to undergo a psychosexual evaluation and follow the recommendations of the evaluation. Ogar was also ordered to pay $155 in fines. He pled guilty on March 10, 2008 and entered a guilty plea to an accusation charging him with the fourth degree charge of possession of child pornography. Ogar admitted to the court that on or about September 3, 2008, he had knowingly possessed numerous images of children engaged in prohibited sexual acts or in simulation of such acts and that he did so by storing those images on his computer. Brad McDermott, age 35, of Vernon, was sentenced to three years probation, 90 days SLAP time and loss of license for six months. McDermott pled guilty on March 10, 2008 to eluding, a third degree crime and motor vehicle charges of careless driving and leaving the scene of an accident. April 29, 2008 Kelly A. Sebastian. Sebastian, age 47, of Branchville pled guilty to fourth degree fraud. Sentencing is presently anticipated for June 20, 2008. She admitted to using a credit card belonging to a Branchville resident that she was caring for to purchase goods for herself at the Hampton WalMart and Newton ShopRite without that person’s permission. April 21, 2008 Shane Juskus, age 21, of Hopatcong, was sentenced to three years probation, 11 days credit for time served in jail, inpatient substance abuse treatment, $1,205 in fines and a six month loss of driver’s license. He pled guilty on March 17, 2008 to the third degree crime of possession of heroin. He admitted to constructively possessing heroin with two other individuals following a motor vehicle stop on November 23, 2007 by Hopatcong Police Officer David Kraus. Michael Kaloudis, age 19, of Stanhope, was sentenced to three years drug court probation, 62 days in jail with 61 days of credit, $1,205 in fines and intensive outpatient treatment. He pled guilty on March 31, 2008 to the third degree crime of possession of psilocybin mushrooms. He admitted to possessing the mushrooms on November 16, 2007 in Stanhope following a brief investigation by Stanhope Police Officer Montella. Ingrid Huxley, age 38, of Newton, was sentenced to four years probation, 90 days jail with 21 days credit, intensive outpatient treatment, $1,205 in fines and a six month loss of driver’s license. She pled guilty on March 24, 2008 to the third degree crime of prescription fraud. She admitted to filling an altered prescription for Vicodin in Newton on December 29, 2007. The matter was investigated by Newton Police Officer Jose Morales. Mason Swartout, age 22, of Swartswood, pled guilty to the third degree crime of distribution of marijuana and the third degree crime of possession with the intent to distribute marijuana. He is scheduled for sentencing on June 13, 2008. He admitted to distributing approximately a quarter pound of marijuana on May 30, 2007 in Hampton Township, and on June 5, 2007, in Hampton Township, he possessed more than one ounce of marijuana with the intent to distribute. The matter was investigated by the Sussex County Narcotics Task Force. John Petsu, age 28, of Hamburg, pled guilty to the third degree crime of burglary, three counts of third degree theft, one count of fourth degree false information to a police officer, one count of third degree possession of heroin and one count of second degree eluding. He is scheduled for sentencing on June 20, 2008. He admitted that in early August, 2006, he burglarized the homes of neighbors on several occasions during which he stole movable property valued at more than $500 and two motor vehicles. He also admitted on August 20, 2006, he gave false information to a police officer in Ogdensburg in order to avoid arrest. He also admitted to stealing a motor vehicle in Wantage on August 26, 2006 and to possessing heroin in Sparta on August 16, 2006. On December 8, 2007, he attempted to elude Sparta Police Officer Marc Rubino by travelling from Sparta to Dover on Route 15 in a stolen vehicle at speeds in excess of 100 mph. James Cronin, age 50, of Vernon, pled guilty to three counts of third degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He is scheduled for sentencing on June 13, 2008. He admitted to possessing Ecstasy in Vernon on May 17, 2007 and cocaine on July 20 and August 14, 2007 in Vernon. The matters were investigated by Vernon Police Officers Reid and Fitzgerald. Anthony Compitiello, age 19, of Hopatcong, pled guilty to the third degree crime of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and the disorderly persons offenses of possession of a hypodermic syringe and an empty bag of heroin. He is scheduled for sentencing on June 20, 2008. The police responded to his home and found him having overdosed on heroin which eventually resulted in the seizure of a syringe, one bag of heroin and one empty bag of heroin. April 30, 2008 Thomas Papa, date of birth April 1, 1963, of 2 Mohawk Crossing, Sussex, (Vernon Township) New Jersey, was arrested on one count of endangering the welfare of a minor in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4A, a third degree crime. The arrest stemmed from an investigation by the Sussex County High Tech Crimes Unit under the direction of Chief Charles Catalano. The allegation in the complaint is that the defendant engaged in sexually explicit conversations via the Internet, specifically chat and instant messaging with what he believed to be a 13 year old female. This charge is separate and distinct from the recent charges filed against Mr. Papa by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office. Bail was set at $15,000 with no 10 percent. Prosecutor Weaver urges anyone whose child spoke online with the screen name “fromnj01@yahoo” to contact the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit. The prosecutor’s office states that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
