Lafayette — Jared Alosio, a sophomore at High Point Regional High, and his brother, Jeremy, a junior, have long been involved in community service. The latest effort by the pair was a blood drive they organized through New Jersey Blood Services that resulted in 50 pints of blood collected. For their work, they each received a $250 college scholarship, but when Jared and Jeremy realized that the scholarship proceeds were equal to 7,000 pounds of food, there was no question about what they would do. The pair donated the funds to ShopRite Partners in Caring program, a year-round, community-based hunger fighting initiative. These two teenagers from Lafayette have been involved with community service for many years. They have been named McDonald’s Heroes of the Week for their efforts to provide items for active servicemen and women and they collected cell phones to benefit the Literacy Foundation.
