The Rescue Round-Up

BARKS (Byram Animal Rescue Kindness Squad) (for cats and dogs) BARKS would like to spotlight a very special cat and dog looking for homes this month. Kerry is a wonderful 5-year-old dog who was abandoned by her owner at a railroad yard. Kerry loves to go for walks (she is great on a leash) and is always wagging her tail. She would probably do best as an only dog and would prefer to be with older children or adults. Butterscotch is an orange tabby that was rescued while pregnant. While two of her kittens have been adopted, both she and Buttons are still waiting for new homes. Both are very lovable kitties who would make a great addition to a loving home. For more information on Kerry, Butterscotch, Buttons, and BARKS’ other rescues, visit www.barksinc.com or call 973-300-3185. Adoption dates are always available on the Web site. Second Chance Pet Adoption League (for dogs) Oak Ridge-based Second Chance Pet Adoption League has two dogs looking for forever homes. Gino is a cute adult beagle/basset mix rescued from a local shelter — he was surrendered because his owners moved out of the country. Gino is shy at first, but sweet and likes being around other dogs. Keko is a 9-year-old purebred mini-schnauzer surrendered because his owner could no longer care for him. He is a lovable guy looking for a calm adult home. Adoption days for Second Chance are held every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains at 3009 Route 10 East, next to Five Star Car Wash, in Morris Plains, from 12:30 to 3 p.m. For more information on Gino, Keko, or Second Chance’s other dogs, visit www.secondchance.petfinder.com or call 973-208-0191. Noah’s Ark Animal Welfare Association (for cats and dogs) Ledgewood-based Noah’s Ark is happy to report that Lady, a 3-year-old Jack Russell mix who suffered from a tear to her patella, has found her forever home. Lady had undergone surgery twice to fix the bad knee cap. After the first surgery, she did not show signs of improvement. A successful second surgery was performed by a specialist. The cost of both surgeries was $1,230. Lady was in a dedicated and loving foster family for a month taking it easy while her knee cap healed. This furry friend is the perfect match for her new adopters, the Singer Family. To help other dogs or cats with special needs, contact Noah’s Ark. Looking to adopt a sweet senior kitty? Mango is an adorable neutered male orange tabby who was dumped at the shelter, so his history is unknown. He has very few teeth and it looks like he had some major dental work done at some point. Mango is a very affectionate cat. Don’t let his age pass him over — senior cats make great pets too. For more information on Mango and Noah’s Ark’s other animals for adoption, visit www.noahsarknj.org or call 973-347-0378.
