Sheriff Michael Strada has welcomed several new officers in the past few months.

At a ceremony in early August, he administered the oath of office to Sheriff’s Officer Dominic Solimando, a 2018 graduate of Hopatcong High School.

Solimando, a lifelong Sussex County resident, began his law enforcement career in 2023 as a patrolman in the Hopatcong Borough Police Department.

He is a graduate of the Passaic County Police Academy’s 59th Basic Police Class. He is continuing his education at the Sussex County Community College, where he studies digital forensics and cyber security.

Sheriff’s Officers Brandon Barnet and Todd Frost took their oaths of office in May.

Barnet is a 2015 graduate of Wallkill Valley Regional High School. He attended Bergen County Community College and Sussex County Community College and is a recent graduate of the Passaic County Police Academy’s Basic Police Class.

Frost is a 2010 graduate of DePaul Catholic and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He began his law enforcement career in 2022, when he became a corrections officer in the Morris County Sheriff’s Office.

He is a graduate of the Essex County Police Academy Basic Corrections Class and the Passaic County Police Academy’s Basic Police Class.

Sheriff’s Detective Nicholas Galvao and K-9 Zena are the Sheriff’s Office’s newest K-9 team from the New Jersey State Police Canine Academy.

Galvao and the 1-year-old German Shepherd successfully completed training in narcotics detection and tracking/trailing.

“We are pleased to present the services of this great team and our other K-9 teams to the law enforcement agencies and citizens of Sussex County. I know they will prove to be a tremendous asset,” Strada said.
