Two roads posted at 15mph

FRANKLIN — Despite a last-minute modification, the borough council approved an ordinance last week designed to alleviate both traffic congestion and excessive speed on two small roads just off Route 23. Both Ridgewood and Walsh roads will now be posted at 15 mph along their entire lengths. Stop signs will be placed where the two roads intersect. Also, the intersection of Ridgewood and Buckwheat road will be closed on school days during school arrival and dismissal times only. The town also seeks to prohibit left-hand turns from Walsh onto Route 23 north. Since that requires approval from the state Department of Transportation — because it involves a state highway — that measure is pending until Trenton notifies the town of its decision.
