Two-time princess of the piano

    Vernon-Nine-year-old Kristen McCormack's piano ability was recognized early when she began playing piano at the age of four. She started lessons with Margaret Korczynski of the Sussex Piano Workshop at the age of five. This month she competed at the Sussex County Piano Competition and placed first in her category for the second year in a row. She has performed for the National Piano Guild the past four years and has achieved gold status proficiency. She has performed for Louise Cheedle and Gail Niwa, both are Julliard graduates and International Steinway Artists. This year she was judged by world-renowned piano artist and adjudicator Dr. L. Wagoner, who holds a Doctorate from Julliard. In addition to piano, Kristen finds time to be on a travel soccer team, be a member of the Girl Scouts Brownies, and also takes horseback riding lessons. Her favorite pastime is playing with her friends, especially her neighborhood pals - Anya, Amber, Alex, Emily, Erin, Micayla, Rachel, Sarah and Victoria.
