Vernon author wins book award

Vernon - Michael J. Ganas of Vernon received top honors in the Science Fiction Epic Adventure genre in the Best of 2008 Book Contest held by Books and Authors for his book, The Girl Who Rode Dolphins. The book, which was published in July 2008 by AuthorHouse, is set in Haiti and follows the adventures of Jake Javolyn, a dive boat operator and part-time smuggler. Ganas, a marine engineer who is managing director of Boswell Underwater Engineering in South Hackensack, said he’s trying to elicit interest among Hollywood film directors such as James Cameron and George Lucas to turn the book into a movie.
