Warwick, N.Y. — Vernon artist Johnston Williams has won WVT Communications’ 30th annual directory cover art competition with a mixed media painting featuring a rural barn scene entitled “Springtime Barn.” Williams has been recognized in this competition in years past, taking home honorable mention the last two years. Second-place went to James Amore of Warwick for his acrylic painting called “Warwick Yesterday.” Arnold Hansen, also of Warwick, took third place for his artistic photograph called “Little York Church.” Both Amore and Hansen have also received awards in this competition in previous years. The cover art contest is held each fall and the rules stipulate that submissions must be works of art and artistic photographs depicting scenes from a WVT service area. The directory is produced by WVT employees, who design the layout, sell the advertising, maintain their customers’ white page listings and control quality. Copies of the Directory are available in the WVT offices at 529 Route 515 in Vernon and at 47 Main St., Warwick.
