    Aug. 25 At approximately 2:45 a.m., Patrolman Charles Reid observed a silver 1994 V.W. traveling south on Route 94 in Vernon Township. The vehicle was traveling 62 mph in a 35-mph-zone. Subsequent motor vehicle stop revealed that the driver, Shawn W. Sandsbury, 30, of Hamburg, was wanted by the Sparta Township Court for failure to appear on bad check charges. A computer check also showed an outstanding warrant from the City of Newark. Sandsbury was placed under arrest for the two outstanding warrants, processed and then turned over to Sparta Police. Sandbury also was charged with speeding 62 in a 35, careless driving, driving with a suspended license and failure to produce a valid registration. Aug. 26 At approximately 12:04 a.m., Patrolman Daniel S. Young was on patrol on East Lakeside Drive in the Highland Lakes section of Vernon Township when he observed an occupied suspicious vehicle parked near Highland Lakes Beach Number Three. Further investigation revealed that there were four persons in the vehicle smoking marijuana as the officer pulled up to check out the suspicious car. The driver, John V. Magazino, 18, of Highland Lakes, was placed under arrest for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and also possession of drug paraphernalia in the form of a glass marijuana smoking pipe. Three male juveniles also were placed under arrest for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The three juveniles were processed and released to a parent. Magazino was processed and released pending an appearance Aug. 31 in Vernon Court. Aug. 27 At approximately 12:01 a.m., Patrolman Charles Reid stopped a black Honda sedan on Breakneck Road for traveling 45 mph in a 30-mph-zone. Subsequent investigation revealed that the driver, Kenneth R. Hynes, 20, of Vernon Township., was operating the vehicle and was under the influence of alcoholic beverages. A computer check also revealed an active arrest warrant for Hynes from Jefferson Township Court. Hynes was placed under arrest for the active warrant and taken to Vernon Township police headquarters for processing. He was charged with underage driving while intoxicated, speeding 45 in a 30, failure to keep right, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drugs in a motor vehicle. He was released after posting bail on the Jefferson warrant and given an Aug. 31 Vernon Court date for all charges. Sept. 6 At 1:46 a.m., a 1991 Plymouth that was being operated by a 17-year-old Vernon male was stopped by Patrolman Erik Aronson after it was observed speeding on Route 23 by Oak Street. Investigation led to the arrest of the driver for underage driving while intoxicated. He was transported to the Hamburg Police Station, where he was charged with speeding, violation of a provisional drivers license, and underage DWI He was released to the custody of his father, pending an appearance in the Hamburg Municipal Court on Sept. 15.
