VERNON POLICE
On Friday, Nov. 20, at approximately 12:10 a.m., Vernon Police officers responded to a report of a one-vehicle accident at the intersection of Sandhill Road and Drew Road. Upon arrival officers observed a Black 2003 Nissan X-terra with considerable damage to the front portion of the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the Nissan had struck a metal guard rail and orange construction barrel before entering the other lane of travel and finally coming to rest in a hay field. Subsequent investigation revealed that the driver, Kerry L. Friesema, 23, of Glenwood, had been drinking and was intoxicated. She was placed under arrest and transported to Vernon Township Police headquarters, where she was processed and charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to breath tests, careless driving, failure to keep right, obstructed front windshield view and using a cellular phone while operating a motor vehicle. Her Nissan SUV was impounded for a period of 12 hours as required by law. She was released to a family member pending a Vernon Municipal Court Appearance.
