Vernon — A small group of area business owners has established the Vernon Small Business Owner’s Group. They aim to promote themselves to the area’s residents, raising awareness about shopping locally for goods and services. To do this, they hold regular open forums to discuss the issues that affect them. The group sees itself as “small but growing.” Meetings are held at the Nordic House Café on Route 94. The next meeting is set for Jan. 26, 7:45 p.m. Membership is open to all local small businesses in the greater Vernon area. There is no membership fee. According to a press release from the group: “Part of the group’s goals include discovering and implementing ways to save, promote and/or help each other, even if multiple members are in the same line of work or have the same type of business. Another goal is to make Vernon a great and thriving place for its residents and its businesses. Rather than just trying to make a few dollars, the group’s efforts are more about making a positive difference in the community.” Find out more Contact Gary at the café 973-209-4279.
