Veteran's memorial gets $2,000 grant

The Wantage Township Recreation Committee received a $2,000 grant from the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Committee to be used toward the construction of the Wantage Township Veterans’ Memorial Monument at Woodbourne Park. To date, the recreation committee has raised over $8,000 to install a set of granite monuments honoring servicemen and women from every major conflict since the Revolutionary War. The group estimates construction costs at $25,000, but the money raised so far should be enough for the group to break ground this spring, install the foundation and regrade the area to be used, said Gregory Williams, committee chairman for the project. The group plans additional fundraising efforts, including a Spring Fling dinner in April.
