The Sussex County Chapter of the American Red Cross will honor Glen Vetrano, director of the Sussex County Board of Chosen Freeholders, with its 2009 Mrs. Joseph P. Quinn Sr. Award at Perona Farms in Sparta on Friday, Oct. 16. The Quinn Award is a special award given in memory of Mrs. Joseph P. Quinn Sr. who founded the Sussex County Chapter of the American Red Cross in 1917. It is presented in recognition of “the same spirit of giving” to the community that characterized the founder and “in appreciation of exceptional service to ‘her chapter’ in our own time.” Officials said Vetrano exceeded expectations when he served as chairman of the Sussex County Red Cross Chapter’s inaugural “Heroes for the American Red Cross” Campaign in March.
