VTHS students finish first in forestry in NJ

Vernon-This month, a team of science students from Vernon Township High School competed against 36 other schools from New Jersey in the annual state-wide NJ Envirothon at Stokes State Forest and came in first place in the category of Forestry. This category consisted of tree, flower, and root identification, and general knowledge of the forest biomes. As the first place winners, Vernon took home a large wood-carving trophy and a spruce tree to plant on campus. The trophy remains in the school for a year to be brought back at the next competition. The students worked really hard to prepare for this event, and enjoyed the experience of camping out and competing amongst other schools. The advisors for this trip were Cara Lenetti, Kellie Frey, and Max Taylor.
