Walker earns $40,000 scholarship at Art Invitational

VERNON - Eleven schools recently participated in the 11th annual Art Invitational at Vernon Township High School, sponsored by the National Art Honor Society, Chapter 396, with Vernon student Sarah Walker earning a $40,000 presidential scholarship. Students Brielle Wilchinsky placed third in the drawing category; and Kristie Fuhrmann placed third in sculpture category. Prizes were awarded at the Artist’s Reception, held in mid-December in the school library. The adjudicating college was the Corcoran College of Art and Design. Britt Freitag, college admissions counselor, selected the ribbon winners and scholarship recipients. Corcoran gave out $240,000 in the form of six $40,000 presidential scholarships. The participating schools, including Vernon, were: Bergenfield, Delaware Valley, High Point Regional, Montville, Mount Olive, Passaic Valley, Randolph, Wallkill Valley, Warwick Valley, and West Milford.
