The Sussex County St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been going strong since 2004. The tradition was begun by Dennis and Mary Harrington of Franklin, who oversee the nonprofit committee. This year, Mark Hontz, an attorney in Newton, was master of ceremonies, and grand marshall was the Rev. Msgr. Kieran McHugh, who is principal of Pope John Regional High School in Sparta. Bands, schools, fire departments, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts and numerous other groups, marched and participated in the fun and activities.
