WARWICK, N.Y. — Winslow Therapeutic Center recently announced that it will host Denim and Diamonds Culinary Event on Sunday, Nov. 1, at the Inn at Central Valley, in Woodbury, N.Y. Retired Vernon Schools Superintendent Anthony Macerino and Carol Chichester, director of the Orange County Youth Bureau, recently visited Winslow to lend their support for the upcoming fundraiser. Winslow is one of the agencies funded in part by the Youth Bureau and Vernon Township provides some program funding and transportation to Winslow for children with special needs. “This is a great program and it’s in our neighboring town,” said Macerino. The Denim and Diamonds Culinary Event will feature inventive Euro-California cuisine created by celebrity chef/culinary rocker Johnny Ciao. The well-known celebrity chef has cooked with and for celebrities including Michael Jackson, the Grateful Dead, Carlos Santana, Willie Nelson, Marlon Brando and Gregory Peck, Whitney Houston, Hank Aaron and Mayor Ed Koch as well as many other music, sports and political figures. Musical entertainment for the evening will include Woodstock recording artist Professor Louie and the Crowmatix. The group has been recording and touring nationally for the past eight years. Their live concert CD “The Spirit of Woodstock” was recorded at the New York State Museum to celebrate the anniversary of the Woodstock Festival held in Bethel, N.Y. During the evening there will also be an auction featuring special items including framed photographs by rock photographer Sue Fino. Founded in 1974, Winslow is a not for profit Hippotherapy and Therapeutic Riding Center devoted to the special needs population of Orange and surrounding counties. The Center, located on 100 acres of scenic land just off Route 17A in Warwick, offers unique and often life-changing horseback riding experiences to children and adults. Tickets to benefit Winslow are now on sale. For information call Evan Fox at 986-6686 or visit: www.winslow.org.
